Jung Mi Scoulas is an assistant professor and assessment coordinator at University of Illinois Chicago Library. She holds a PhD in educational psychology and specializes in library assessment, research design, and student learning. As the University Library Assessment Coordinator, she works to establish and promote a culture of assessment. In her role, she plans and implements assessment initiatives, using appropriate data analysis methodologies to lead regular internal and external surveys, share findings, and provide training and consultations related to assessment. Her research examines the impact of library experiences on students' academic success, and she has published nationally and internationally. Recently, as the leader of a research project focused on developing assessment tools to understand students' academic engagement, she successfully secured a $250,000 grant from the Institute of Museum and Information Science. During 2022-2023, she served as the Research Scholar at the Association of Research Libraries Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Institute Task Force, providing experience in qualitative and quantitative research approaches linked to curriculum, evaluation, results, and impact. She was also the chair of the Association of College and Research Libraries Value of Academic Libraries Committee for 2022–2023. She currently serves as a column editor of Strategic Planning and Assessment at the Journal of Library Administration.
