Alanna Aiko Moore, the Head of Community Engagement and Inclusion and Librarian for Ethnic Studies at the University of California, San Diego, is a dedicated advocate for diversity, equity, and inclusion. Her commitment is evident in her work of centering the experiences of diverse user communities and managing related Library projects in collaboration with campus colleagues. Alanna's service on the Executive Committee of the Critical Gender Studies Program and the Advisory Board of the LGBTQ Resource
Center at UC San Diego further underscores her dedication.
Moore is the Executive Director of the Asian/Pacific American Librarians Association (APALA), where she also served as Past President and Member at Large. From 2021-
2022, she was the Visiting Program Officer for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at the Association of Research Libraries and a Steering Committee member for the Joint
Conference of Librarians of Color II. Within the American Library Association (ALA), Moore has served on ALA Council, the organization's governing body, is a Spectrum
Scholar, and has past appointments on the Steering Committee for Organizational Effectiveness, the Task Force for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion. She has chaired the
Committee on Diversity.
She has extensive experience in presenting and training on a wide range of topics, including microaggressions, intersectionality, LGBTQ identity, invisible labor, mentoring,
activism, self-care, and issues affecting women of color librarians. Her previous work at social justice-centered non-profits and community organizations further enriches her professional background.
