Aisha Aminu is an Early Career Resident Liaison Librarian in the Engineering & Computer Science Library at the University of Toronto. As part of their residency, they manage information, develop and assess collections, teach critical information workshops, and liaise with faculty members and students on research interests and library programs related to Computer Science. They are passionate about epistemic, algorithmic and design justice, afro-diasporic ways of knowing and being, and digital humanities. Their experience under intersecting systems of oppression, as a Black, queer immigrant informs their approach to their work. Aisha actively writes and researches on knowledge systems in the Black diaspora, including how they function and thrive under systems of oppression. In the past year, they have immersed themselves in the Queer Ballroom subculture, researching how information functions in its spaces as a member of the community. They also create, organize and teach workshops on Critical Design and Computing. In their spare time, they explore indigeneity, ancestral connections, (im)migration, and Black Diasporic cultural elements through mixed-media art. They hold a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the New Jersey Institute of Technology and a Master of Information with a concentration in User Experience Design from the University of Toronto.
