Name
Architectural design for sensory impact: a six months post-renovation retrospective
Description

The first floor of a large, urban academic flagship library was renovated in fall 2023. The space designs were informed by extensive student input, which highlighted belonging, sensory impact, and wayfinding as key blockers in using the first floor. This poster will review how the designs addressed mitigating sensory impact, how the space actually changed during the renovation, and how students are using the space after the renovation. Did the renovation appropriately address the sensory impact? What can we do differently next time?
