Description

How accessible is your library? Did you know that there are international, national, and regional accessibility standards which govern libraries and inform policy development at organizational levels across libraries in Canada and the United States? This session will engage with the final recommendations in the AODA Postsecondary Education Guidelines, using them as a springboard for conversations about best inclusion practices in libraries. We will work with attendees to critically review and apply best practices to their organizational context to develop accessibility plans, policies and inclusive services. Participants will be given access to documents outlining relevant requirements in Ontario to work together to brainstorm practical solutions and develop compliance work plans for their institutional context. This session will create a cohort of library staff to connect, share best practices and to continue this dialogue outside of this session.
