Stephen Town is an Honorary Research Fellow in the School for Business and Society at the University of York, UK. He is currently working on organizational value and virtue following his PhD. Stephen’s recent publications include analyses of practical wisdom, and he is now presenting the findings of his study of leadership and organizational virtue in leading research libraries in North America and the UK.

Stephen’s research work follows a forty-year career in academic libraries. He was most recently Director of Information & University Librarian at the University of York, leading Library, IT and Archives services until 2015.

Stephen has a long history of contribution to library assessment, as Chair of the Northumbria Conferences, and in collaboration with North American colleagues in ARL through membership of the LibQUAL+ Steering Committee, ClimateQUAL, and the Library Assessment Conference, and he is proud to have received the Library Assessment Career Achievement Award.
