Andy Horbal is Director of Access Services at Cornell University Library. In this role he supervises Access Services librarians and unit managers; ensures awareness of current trends in access services, looking toward future directions for the Library; and works with unit library directors to forward the Library’s public services and to ensure that decisions regarding Access Services resonate with the Cornell community. Additionally, he coordinates CUL’s approach to providing streaming film and media resources. Previous stops in his academic library career include the University of Maryland, McDaniel College, and the University of Pittsburgh, which is also where he earned his BA and MLIS degrees. His main research interest involves instructor and student use of streaming and other video resources in higher education and he has also published and presented work on academic library makerspaces, cinephilia, and copyright issues.
