Erik T. Mitchell is the Audrey Geisel University Librarian at the University of California San Diego. Prior to this role, he served as Associate University Librarian and Associate Chief Information Officer at the University of California, Berkeley. Erik has also held positions in the School of Information at the University of Maryland, College Park, Wake Forest University and Pfeiffer University.
Erik’s research focuses on the use and impact of information in educational, cultural memory and cultural heritage communities. His recent work includes research in the management and sharing of data in Library and Information Science communities. He holds a PhD in Information and Library Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, his Master’s in Library Science from the University of South Carolina and a Bachelor of Arts from Lenoir-Rhyne College.
