Ms. Dongyun Ni is the Chinese Studies Librarian at the University of Hawaii at Manoa (UHM) Library. Her role encompasses developing and managing an array of library resources in various formats and languages for Chinese studies. Her collaborative efforts with specialists are pivotal in preserving, restoring, and digitizing rare materials in the China Collection. Ms. Ni provides reference services, in-depth research consultations, and specialized instructions, aiding scholars in their academic pursuits. Holding a Master's degree in both Computer Science and Library and Information Science, and backed by 10 years of cataloging experience, she significantly contributes to the growth and comprehensiveness of the collection, which supports the learning and teaching of the Chinese studies faculty and students at UHM, local communities and beyond.
Ms. Ni actively participates and provides leadership in professional organizations such as the Society for Chinese Studies Librarians, the Pacific Rim Research Libraries Alliance, and the Council on East Asian Libraries (CEAL). As the Immediate Past Chair of the CEAL Statistics Committee, she administers the CEAL Statistics database and annual surveys, and strives to infuse inclusivity and diversity into the redesign of the CEAL statistics database project. This commitment forms the foundation of the presentation Enhancing Accessibility: Sustainable Management of CEAL Statistics Database.
