Speaker Bio
Cory is the liaison librarian for art, drama, and music at Queen's University. She holds a PhD in Information Science and has a background in music and teaching. Cory is an ardent researcher and recently served as Chair of the Librarians' Research Institute for the Canadian Association of Research Libraries (2023). Current interests include student perspectives on inclusive classrooms, building diverse collections, and collection stewardship. The present study was inspired by a partnership with Mohawk colleagues at the university's Centre for Teaching and Learning. Shifts towards inclusive curricula led to documentation of Indigenous resources and to investigation of librarians’ roles in decolonizing the information landscape. Cory is first-generation Canadian from Irish-Scottish immigrant parents, and as a settler scholar, she is mindful that decolonizing is a process and a lifetime pursuit.
