Mark Weiler, PhD, is the Web & User Experience Librarian at Wilfrid Laurier University. He is sighted and certified with the JAWS screen reader, a tool used in the blind community to interact with computers. Mark has reported over 600 accessibility issues in library and university settings. His commitment to increasing equity within academic libraries is reflected in his co-facilitating the Digital Accessibility in Academic Libraries (DAAL) community of practice within the Canadian Association of Professional Academic Librarians (CAPAL), teaching the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, teaching librarians how to use JAWS, and chairing an accessibility working group within his consortium, which has built bridges with other libraries and library consortia internationally.
