Aneta Kwak is the Information Services and Instruction Librarian at DG Ivey Library, New College, University of Toronto. She is the co-facilitator of the Digital Accessibility in Academic Libraries (DAAL) community of practice as part of the Canadian Association of Professional Academic Librarians (CAPAL). Her research and program development interests focus on ideas of social responsibility and equity, with a focus on accessibility in libraries and library services. She has led a number of proactive accessibility initiatives including developing and implementing a workflow to proactively make PDF scanned course readings accessible, a closed captions editing project to make captions for lecture recordings accurate and hosted workshops on accessible document creation. Under Aneta’s oversight, the New College library has proactively converted over 1700 course readings into accessible versions for readers with print-disabilities. She has shared her expertise to advance transformation towards equity in academic libraries through her co-authored publication “An accessibility-first approach to online course readers”, published in Reference Services Review.
