To increase student participation in Pride activities, our university has added an additional Pride in October, during LGBT History Month. As part of this new Pride month, the Library developed the Pink Library Tour. This tour of the library was designed to give students a 2SLGBTQ+ focused view of the resources, collections, services, and spaces at the Library. We viewed potential stops for the tour broadly. The tour encompassed a wide range of features, including an opportunity to see the immersive virtual reality studio in action, to explore local historical queer content from our archives, hear about interdisciplinary queer research and edit-a-thons, and learn about the library resources, legal collections, and more that support the research of 2SLGBTQ+ topics. Some of these features are unique to our university, while others have parallels even in small libraries interested in offering a Pink Library Tours. This presentation will describe the planning and implementation of the Pink Library Tour, what we learned, and provide participants with a checklist for setting up a 2SLGBTQ+ tour to engage patrons with their library space.
