This workshop will illuminate the transformative power of project management as a vital leadership tool. It will demonstrate how our library's portfolio management serves as a foundational structure to fulfill our institutional vision for employee belonging, alignment with Institute values, and furthering diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA) objectives. Agenda Highlights: A comprehensive introduction to our library’s portfolio management strategy and its project management framework. Exploration of methods to elevate organizational culture by enhancing employee satisfaction and engagement, along with ensuring diverse and inclusive representation. A focused analysis to show how portfolio management directly aligns with institutional resources and priorities, leading to greater visibility, accountability, transparency, and tangible results. The workshop tells the story of our library's transformation through the prioritization of DEIA. Beginning in 2019 with an interim leader's vision statement. Since then, portfolio management has acted as a catalyst for aligning strategies with the Library and Institute’s overarching vision and values. A pivotal component of this approach is the "Investing in Our People" strategy. It outlines a comprehensive workforce development plan that incorporates DEIA in hiring practices, focuses on skill cultivation, activates talent to meet institutional needs, and ensures the well-being of employees and patrons alike.
